When a specific use, a setback from a property line or a site specific hardship is encountered, it is required that the Zoning Inspector deny the issuance of a Building Permit, unless a prior hearing has provided a precedent.
The only recourse of an applicant having been denied a permit is to request a variance from the Zoning Board of Appeals. That process will include both public notice in the local newspaper, letters to each landowner within 200 feet, and a public hearing prior to a decision being rendered.
Currently, the Board is functioning without a Chairman, but a new board member has been appointed by the Mayor.
